Moving & Changing

I just wrapped with a new project - new to me, not to MTV - called "Movers & Changers" and wanted to post the first episode. The segment is less than 4 minutes so you should totally check it out.

We teamed up with the New York Stock Exchange for the series so while everyone else on Wall Street was occupying Zuccotti Park I was kicking it on the trading room floor!

How seriously awesome are these pictures? I doubt I'll ever get the chance to visit there again so I took full advantage of the photo op.

Since that project is signed, sealed, delivered, I decided to return to the Pacific Northwest for a few weeks to spend sometime with my family and friends during the holidays. As for work, I'll continue to write for act.mtv.com and I just took a new gig tweeting for Bravo's "Top Chef", which for both I'm able to do from home! I wanted to share some pics from my recent Washington trip. I had such an awesome time. I definitely could've used a couple of extra days there though. Most of my time was spent with my fam or doing wedding stuff with my bestie Kate-o (I was her Dude of Honor). I only have a few photos from the ceremony but I'll make sure to upload more once I have them.

Seeing I was the Dude of Honor I was partially responsible for throwing Kate a Bachelorette Party (pictured above is her sister Jen who really did most of the work). To make it a little more guy friendly I brought and made everyone wear fake mustaches. They're all the rage this season.

During my trip I got to see a lot of my Grandma too. She was visiting from North Dakota with her boyfriend. Not really a boy. As you can see we rode the Duck. Quack!

The wedding was on Roche Harbor which is just a few hours and a ferry ride away from Seattle. Like I said, I'll post more pictures when I have them. I just wanted to give ya a little sneak peek in the meantime.

Sayonara Seven

The show I work(ed) for got canceled. Boo! I was out of the office for a couple of weeks, the first half I was covering the MTV Movie Awards and the second half I was attending a wedding in Washington, and when I returned Tuesday they made the announcement during our morning meeting (my first day back mind you) that our show was dunzo and our last episode was yesterday! Yesterday meaning the Monday before I returned! Blah! It really fucking sucks! I loved working there. And most of the people (not all but most) were awesome. So in memory of "The Seven" I'm going to share my seven favorite memories from over the past nine months.

#7 - I'll kick things off with some pics from the Movie Awards. This was probably the most fun I've had at MTV thus far. Plus we were in Los Angeles. And the weather was amazing. And I got to hold the golden popcorn.

The last three pictures are of me, Melissa and Linda at Party City. Melissa accidentally walked out of the store without paying for the bling around her neck. So Lindsay Lohan!

#6 - All the interviews I got to conduct. Below are my one-on-ones with Rihanna and Katy Perry. I re-edited them myself to highlight my crazy ass in both. I've got a bunch more footage so I'm hoping to cut together a few more vids similar to these. I'll make sure to post 'em when they're finished.

#5 - We had some really cool live performances. While Rihanna was probably my favorite the two below were the ones I was the most proud of because I booked them myself. Darren Criss was just getting his start on "Glee" and I got in touch with his management before his big break and Karmin (if you haven't seen them before you must check them out here) I just emailed and got on the show after I saw their "Look At Me Now" cover on YouTube.

#3 - There were these mini segments (or bumps) that we had in almost every show where we'd ask celebs to list the seven things they couldn't live with out, that were on their bucket list or that fans didn't know about them. They were kind of a pain in the ass but somehow became my thing. I think it was because no one else wanted to deal with them. The last one I did was with Hilary Duff.

Office Plank

During our morning meeting today one of my coworkers brought up planking. Apparently it's all the rage in Australia... and oddly enough we've had four Aussies working on our show since being on-air, but that besides the point. The point is we tried a couple of poses in the office this morning and I've got to admit, I get it. It's all about one upping the other person, so I can totally see how it can get out of hand (I guess it's controversial because they'll plank from high and/or dangerous locations).

Check out our attempts at it. I didn't realize at the time but I was clenching my butt cheeks during my photo op. I must have been really concentrating.

The one thing I didn't know about it until now is that you're supposed to have your arms by your side... oops! I guess we'll have to take another stab at it next week.

After assessing my blog yesterday I decided it might be nice to include more non work related content... so I sent myself on a photo scavenger hunt. Since I wasn't looking for anything in particular I found myself roaming the streets after work not knowing what to take pictures of. I finally decided my goal would be to snap a few pics of cool things I see on my daily walk to and from the office but don't necesarily acknowledge as being cool... a stop and smell the roses sort of thing. I kind of feel like I failed but figured I'd post 'em up since I said I would last night.

While I love work I'd like to try updating this bitch with a healthier blend of topics... a better work/life balance if you will. Seeing I'm there more than 12 hours a day this could be a bit of a challenge but I'm going to take a stab at it nonetheless. I'm thinking I'll do some sort of a camera phone scavenger hunt. What I'll be looking for? Who knows... but I'll take a few random non work related pics and post 'em tomorrow.

Every May a group of my friends and I take a trip to San Francisco for what has become my favorite weekend of the year. The main reason for our visit is to take part in Bay to Breakers (look it up if you've never been or heard of it) but we've also made a tradition out of attending a music/food/alcohol festival called Oyster Fest as well.

Our annual visit took place last weekend and I wanted to share some of the pics my friend Ryan, who clearly is an awesome photographer, took while we were down there. He's only posted the photos from day one of our vacation to his facebook thus far but I'll make sure to update my blog with the second batch once they're available.

If you don't know Kate, we've been BFFs since middle school. We became friends in computer class after I offered her a scab I picked off of my elbow and told her it was beef jerky.

We had Kim and Kourtney Kardashian live on "The Seven" last week and before taking the stage they talked to MTV News about Kim being married right out of high school! Did anyone know that? I don't think I'd heard that before watching the above interview.

The girls also left our team with a butt load of Kardashian Glam Silly Bandz (yes they have Silly Bandz). Now I get that the lavander one on the left is a bottle of perfume and they grey on the right is a diamond ring ... the one I'm struggling with however is the pink formation in the middle. Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking?

My friend/coworker, Melissa recently did a piece with some of the contestants on "RuPaul's Drag Race" and was invited to spend an evening with one of the girls, Mimi while she promoted her new single, "Party Girl" throughout the gay bars of New York. She actually performs the song with two real women and compares the group to the Pussycat Dolls but with a twist! Amazing!

Melissa needed a wingman and since I can't say no to a powder pink stretch Expedition (what we were chauffeured the entire night in) I found myself running around the city with quite the posse Friday.

When riding the subway to work this afternoon several people took off their pants in the middle of the train! Having no idea what was going on I asked a couple sitting next to me why they were in their underwear and their only response was, "we're really hot" and "we totally overdressed for today". WTF!? Apparently "No Pants Subway Ride" is an annual occurrence but being the first time I'd heard of it I did not choose to participate. I did grab some photos and footage with my camera phone to share with all of you though!

I was hoping to post a Halloween update earlier but have been super busy at work with Weezy Watch (Lil Wayne was released from jail Thursday) in addition to a buch of other shit and haven't had a chance until now.

I was pressed for time when coming up with a costume this year and ended up throwing together this little number. If you couldn't tell, I was Twitter. I wore the whiteboard to work and the bars Friday but ended up losing it after a night of drinking with some high school friends (for anyone who reads this from my middle school or high school - Lionel was in town!). Leave it to me to lose a Halloween costume though! Who does that?

At work pretty much everyone else on my team dressed up too! How cool is it to have a job where this many people in your office come in costume?!

The photo above is of Lionel, Susan and Me Saturday night. We ended up at a house party which was all right by me since I was still hungover from the evening before.

As for Halloween day my roomies and I (my friend, Yamil I used to work with at "When I Was 17" just moved in that weekend and is the one pictured with me above) carried a 50 inch TV across town. No, we weren't trick or treating as television delivery men, but moving the television our other roomie Stina fround on Craigslist for free. Because it was so freaking big we couldn't fit it in a vehicle and ended up having to wheel it! Pure comedy I tell you.

And for that night I worked the red carpet at Heidi Klum's Halloween party. How freakin' cool are her and Seal's costumes?! She was on some sort of stilt which made her giant. I seriously think it was the coolest costume I've ever seen, but I guess that's expected from the host of "Project Runway". I'm pretty sure she's got some connections in the fashion industry.

Yes that is Kevin Bacon and yes it is made out of bacon! I came across the bacon bust of Bacon through my bestie, Kate who took a picture kissing the statue (she said he tasted salty). The creator was at KOMO News Radio, where Kate works, to shed some light on the item which is up for bid on eBay.

A couple of things you should know about the piece:

All proceeds from the auction will go to Ashley's Team a non-profit named for the creator, Dave Lefkow's daughter, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The bust was commissioned by Seattle-based J&D's Foods the manufacturers of Bacon Salt, Baconnaise, Bacon Lip Balm, Mmmvelopes, and more.

The current bid is at $560 but based on the auctions description is well worth the money claiming:

I rode in the elevator with Nelly today. He called me homie and gave me two pieces of gum. I took a picture. The ball on the left is chewed ... by me, not him. If I would have thought of it in time I would have rapped this for him:

I also wanted to post a couple of camera phone pics I took recently at Coney Island. When riding the Ferris Wheel we were handed buttons in celebration of the ride's 90th anniversary. At first I thought it was kind of cool until I climbed in. It was the ricketiest structure I had ever stepped foot on. Don't be fooled by our smiles in the photo -- we feared for our lives.

One of my best friends Wes and I have a bit of a tradition when it comes to Independence Day. It's nothing too exciting, but usually involves us, some friends, Panda Express (I actually think we switched it up last year and picked up food from Ezell's Chicken instead), and a random driveway on Capital Hill from where we watch the fireworks on Lake Union.

Because of my J-O-B I was unable to make it home this year for the fourth and was completely bummed. So much so that part of me was contemplating just staying home to do nothing, until that is I remembered a spot that would have an amazing view of the Macy's fireworks on the Hudson River -- my work. So I rounded up a couple of friends and after a few stops in China Town and SoHo we made our way up to my building in Times Square for what ended up being a really fun place to watch the display.

Of course I would have much rather been in Seattle with everyone there, but seeing I wasn't able to make it am extremely grateful I was able to celebrate with such awesome people in such a sweet spot here in New York.

The 16th floor where my office is was a little too low, so we moved on up to 25. The video above is a clip from the show shot from my friend and former roomie, Joanne's cell phone.

Double Down the Hatch

When passing by a KFC the other day I saw this larger than life advertisement for the Double Down and was seriously shocked. How is this item still on the menu I thought to myself. It was no news such a thing existed, just unbelievable that people were actually buying these, dare I say, sandwiches! We're talking two chicken filets, two pieces of bacon, two melted slices of Monterey Jack, two slices of pepper jack cheese, and a glob of Colonel's Sauce all rolled up into one. Double Down? Try Double Bypass instead!

Now, I should clarify that I would eat this shit ... and probably like it, but never would I walk into a Kentucky Fried Chicken and have the guts to actually order one. I don't know what it is about fast food, but it embarrasses me.

Anyway, I was at work sharing all of this with my friend/coworker Paige and came to find out that in Flint, Michigan, where she is from, people are not only fans of the Double Down but have come up with a twist on how to eat it. Instead of just enjoying it as it comes, some people from her hometown slice a Krispy Kreme doughnut in half and use each side as a bun!

In disbelief I Googled it and found several sites (including http://www.thisiswhyyourefat.com/) that confirmed this concoction to be a real thing! Apparently it's called the KFC Double Down Luther Sandwich!!!

While the Sharpie mustache is nothing new to me, I've recently come across someone's (somewhat artistic) take to defacing advertisements in New York subway stations that is.

And at the stop I get off at for work there is no discrimination to who ends up with an upper lip covered in the black cursive letters. As you can see in the photos above anyone is fair game – even a Golden Girl!

For some reason I'd love to see what the tagger looks like. Since I leave my office at all hours of the night (and morning) I'm hoping to someday catch a glimpse of the culprit(s)/artist(s) in action.

Scaling the Side

I'm not even 100% sure what they're doing but for a little more than a month we've had workers scaling the side of our building doing some sort of maintenance. I mean, I've gone skydiving and everything and am totally OK with heights, but seriously, I've got to give it up to the guys who are doing this job.

And I'm only on the 16th floor! This place goes up 54 stories! Imagine what it would be like on the very top -- and for hours at a time!!!

I don't know if you can tell but in this second picture the guy is on his cell phone -- probably sending out a text message to his friends and loved ones just in case.

Puffy In The Park

Until now I had totally forgotten to post my photos and footage from when Diddy-Dirty Money performed for free in Central Park earlier this month. Both "Good Morning America" and "The Today Show" offer a series of no charge shows during the summer. You have to get there pretty early in the A-M, so this was the only one I've made it to thus far, but with acts like Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and Rihanna scheduled you better believe I'll be rolling my ass out of bed for future shows.

One thing I thought was noteworthy about Puff's performance was the fact that he really runs around with all his people. Like the entourage you see surrounding him on "Making the Band" and "I Want to Work for Diddy" are legit. Even before he hit the stage I saw Dawn Richards from Danity Kane, Que from Day26 and my favorite from the P. Diddy posse -- Laurieann Gibson! If you're not familiar with her, she's a choreographer who got her start as a Fly Girl on "In Living Color" and is now frequently seen working with Diddy and the artist signed to his label, Bad Boy.

Being the fan that I am I had to snag a picture -- and please notice that I'm rocking a "No Bitch Assness" t-shirt. I mean seriously, how could I not? I was too embarrassed to wear it to work later on that day, but I couldn't help but sport it at the concert.

Through a recent MTV News poll, Lady Gaga's 'Alejandro' was voted this year's song of the summer. Now, while I love me some Gaga, that single in particular is not one I imagine myself bobbing my head to as I'm driving to the beach. For me, a summer anthem needs to be more upbeat and carefree.

I don't know what it is but since moving to New York I have gone through an incredible amount of footwear. OK, I know what it is -- it’s because of the insane about of walking I’ve done since living in the city, but seriously I went to put on socks this morning and found my last clean pair had HUGE holes in the bottom of them

And as for my shoes -- my Chuck’s have ripped to shreds and the heels on my Nike running shoes are so worn down they make my feet bleed if I don’t wear pads in them!

So while I’m saving a ton of cash not having a car in New York my God given form of transportation may be paying for it in the end. Thank God for Dr. Scholls! You better believe I'm gellin'.

When I Was 17

OK, so the last couple of months have been a little hectic for me, hence the reason I haven’t posted any new material. But finally this Saturday everyone will get the chance to see what my hands have been tied with. If you didn’t know already, the show I'm working on is called “When I Was 17” and is scheduled to air May 1st! Check out the sneak peaks below, but make sure to still tune in this weekend! It’s going to be AWESOME!

While working on the series I started to think about what I would talk about if I was featured on our show and came up with a few ideas:

1) My car: I drove a 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit. It was, no joke, tore up from the floor up. I bought it with my own money though, so shout outs to me!

Since this self purchased vehicle broke down from time to time (I think it put me back a whole $1,400) I often found myself driving a two toned, 1977 (in all seriousness it was probably a little bit older) Chevy Bonanza that belonged to my dad. While I have so many hilarious memories in that piece of shit, the one that stands out most vividly in my mind was that it didn’t have a working radio -- only a cassette player! Seeing we had moved on to compact discs at this point in time, my listening was limited to the one and only tape I owned -- a Christina Aguilera sampler I won from KISS FM (in Seattle) during a canned food drive my high school was hosting. Needless to say, I memorized, and still know the first 45 seconds to every song on her debut album including “Genie in a Bottle” and “What a Girl Wants”.

2) Working at McDonalds: I was closer to 14 when I actually held this position, but my coworkers and I were such bad asses that I think my stories from the fast-food chain would make for better TV viewing than the job I really had at 17.

I’d definitely have to bring up the time my friend stole a lifetime supply of Monopoly game pieces and how often we’d drop food on the floor and still served it. Thinking back on it -- I actually recall a time when we sold two cheeseburgers (I believe that’s a number two if we’re talking Value Meals) that earlier had been thrown in the garbage!

3) Tommy Hilfiger: I wore it from head to toe. Shoes, jackets, hats, overalls, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sandals -- you name it, I, unfortunately had it!

4) Braces: Seriously, other than my best friend and my dad (who wore them for almost a decade and just got them off around Thanksgiving) I think I was maybe one of the oldest living humans to have them -- or at least it felt that way.

Anyway, as if having them wasn’t embarrassing enough I used to insist that my orthodontist give me multicolored rubber bands to correspond with whatever was going on at the time. Meaning during Christmas they were red and green and, yup, you guessed it orange and black for Halloween.

I was ridiculous.

5) Lastly, I have a really cool story about meeting Puffy’s girl group (the one before Danity Kane) Dream: My friend Lauren was working at Nordstrom and gave me and some peeps free tickets to see the band perform at an event the department store was putting on. Long story short, one of the gals, Melissa was doing a dance move where she dropped it like it was hot and split her pants all the way up the back in the process. Being the hero I am I handed her an extra shirt I had for her to tie around her waist.

I remember being so proud when I read about it in Nickelodeon Magazine as one of her most embarrassing moments.

When leaving our apartment this afternoon, my roommates noticed the yellow sign above scattered up and down the street of our neighborhood. Since 'Gossip Girl' is one of my favorite shows, you better believe I was super excited to see they were taping on my block! Based on the posting we assumed the action wouldn't take place until after dark, so when returning home around 7:30 this evening the hunt was on for the set.

After a quick brainstorm we decided the most logical place to find the cast was about a half mile from our place at an Astoria park which has a kick ass view of the city skyline. So the three of us searched high and low and after about thirty minutes of not seeing a thing were about to call it quits, when from across the street we noticed the Astoria World Manor (a mansion right next to where we live) was lit up more than usual.

Just as we approached the building Taylor Momsen walked through the double doors with a bodyguard and several others surrounding her. Like a crazy fuck I started jumping around with my hands flailing in the air shouting, "Little J, Little J!" which is Momsen's nickname on the show. In hopes of seeing other celebs we asked the doorman if we could expect anyone else. Unfortunately we couldn't get much out of him other than Blake Lively was on the set earlier but had already left for the night.

Today I had my first celebrity retweet!

Familiar with the microblog? If not, retweeting, also known as just RT is the act of reposting a twitter update made by someone else.

And who you might ask gives a flying fuck about what I have to say? Well, that certain somebody just happens to be Fall Out Boy bassist and husband to Ashlee Simpson, Mr. Pete Wentz! I know, I was shocked myself.

What's even cooler is I met him Friday night when volunteering at a candlelight vigil in support of the victims of Haiti. The event was put on by UNICEF, and I figured that while I was there I could take some video footage and post it up here and/or on my Think.MTV.com blog (my account on Think is from when I worked with MTV News and has only been updated a few times since my contract ended). I wasn't planning on compiling anything too fancy so I just brought by Flip Camcorder hoping I could snag a couple of compelling shots.

My duty was to distribute candles and matches, so at one point I was faced with pretty much everyone in attendance, including Pete. When I saw him however, it didn't even cross my mind he was a celebrity, instead I thought to myself who's this hipster that's too cool for school, wearing sunglasses during an evening event?

It wasn't until he was announced to the stage that I realized it was him .... and I had been standing less than ten feet away the entire assembly!

I wasn't sure if he'd talk to me and my camera (especially since it's smaller than Zack Morris's cell phone), but I decided I'd try nonetheless. I figured I'd grab him on his way out, but since he was seriously dawdling, rather than hovering over him like a stalker, I decided to ask another volunteer for a couple of quick quotes while I waited. Apparently this was a bad idea, because during this two minute interview he left and was nowhere to be found. Since there were several ways to escape, I didn't even know which way he took off. My brain was telling me to run in the direction he came in, but my gut, for some reason was saying to try a different route. I don't know how I got so lucky, but I happened to catch up with him a couple of blocks up the street, where he was totally OK with answering my questions ... as long as I promised they were relevant to the vigil. I did sneak in our conversation that I saw his wife in 'Chicago' however.

Once in a Blue Moon

While spending a majority of my New Year's Eve in an airplane was not ideal, the upside to my time in the air was having a killer view of the blue moon.

So what exactly is a blue moon? The definition is the second full moon in a calendar month. One already occurred December 2nd, making the 31st's the second this month.

According to the pilot this only happens every two and a half years, and this one is even more special since in falls on the holiday. The next NYE blue moon will not take place until 2028!

A White Christmas

No need for dreaming, today in Park River, North Dakota we had the whitest of Christmases. I shot a few seconds of footage just to give everyone an idea of what we’re working with up here.

The temperature, unfortunately, ranged between 14 and 25 degrees. Besides the weather and not having cell phone reception I am enjoying my time in the Rough Rider State (no joke that's one of its nicknames, others include the Sioux, Peace Garden and Flickertail State).

A December to Remember

Although I won’t be spending either Christmas or New Year's Eve in New York (I’ll be in North Dakota with my family and am so excited), the decorations lining the street have definitely prepped me for the holidays to come. While my camera phone doesn’t take the best pictures I still snapped a couple of shots to share on my blog.

In this last photo it might be hard to see, but at the top of the tower is the Times Square NYE Ball. It started to snow in the city today, and although it was unbelievably cold, I was determined to check out the Waterford Crystal in person. Needless to say it was a little disappointing, but I'm still glad I saw it.

While on business in New York, my homegirl, Sheila took a little time out of her day to pay a visit to me in the city. Being the holiday season, we made our way to Rockefeller Center to check out the Christmas tree as well as try our hand (or in this case feet) at ice skating.

By the looks of my skin tone in the picture, you might have guessed it's a tad chilly outside here in NYC. Even after an hour of being inside, I was still having a bit of a problem dethawing. See how we got to this frozen state in the video of us tearing up the rink below.

Twitter Me This

Since I’m into the whole Twitter phenomenon I was pleased to be a part of tonight’s taping of the ‘Late Show’ where David Letterman appeared on stage with a laptop, or as he referred to it, “a Twitter machine” and typed out his first 30 characters on the social networking site.

“Do you smell veal and peppers?” Not exactly answering the question Twitter presents when a status is being updated, “What are you doing?” but hilarious nonetheless.

The guests for the show were Barbra Walters and BLAKTOC (which for this particular performance included The Black Keys and Mos Def). While the whole experience was pretty cool, I was honestly surprised I got the opportunity to attend. Not because it’s necessarily hard to win tickets, but because when they call to let you know you’ve been selected, to ensure they have fans in the audience, they require you answer a trivia question. Now, as much as I like Dave, I am in no way equipped to be answering any inquiries about him or the show. So when the coordinator asked who Alan Kalter is, I froze up and luckily guessed my way through to the correct answer. Which for those of you who don’t know, is the redheaded announcer on the program.

I’m glad I had the chance to go though, because besides having to spend more than an hour in the cold, the whole thing was a lot of fun. And while I don’t think Dave will continue posting to Twitter (Twitter Quitter if you will), it was still pretty neat to be a part of one of his technological advances.

The Cover Song Kid

One of my downtime favorites is to type the name of a popular song into YouTube’s search engine and browse the umpteen number of users who have uploaded a video of themselves singing the well-known tune. There’s just something I love about hearing an undiscovered artist who can really blow, singing a rendition of music I’m already familiar with (hence the reason I’m an avid watcher of both ‘American Idol’ and ‘Glee’).

If you haven’t had the chance to listen to some of these submissions yourself, I’m sure you can imagine that like ‘Idol’ there is some amazing talent, and then of course some, who in the words of Simon Cowell “Sound like a cat jumping off the Empire State Building.” Trust me; I try to steer clear of the not so amazing profiles, but naturally come across their accounts from time to time.

Now it was during a somewhat recent search I came across what I’d consider a true gem. His name is Sam Tsui, and for a little more than a year has been uploading his unique take on some, what I’d consider, pop classics. A Few Other Things:

1) I’m living in an awesome new apartment! The moving process started after an altercation with my old roommate. I won’t say much other than I was forced to find a new place to live … and in a hurry.

It was tough because I’m still job hunting and living in this city can be super expensive. So from the get go I decided financially it would be best if I could find a shared space with someone looking to split the rent. After days of searching I began to grow nervous because every ad I came across was either too good to be true or placed by a possible psycho that I worried might take my life while I slept. But finally I came across a listing on craiglist.org (yes, scary, I know) that, no joke, spoke to me like a patch of overcast clouds above my head had cleared just enough to shine a halo like beam of heavenly sunshine, saying, this is it. AND believe it or not, the contact number attached had a 206 area code (Seattle)!

It ended up being two friends who like me, had just moved to New York and had a falling out with the original person they had planned on living with. Well, their situation was much different than mine, seeing the only reason their roommate had moved out was because she had to relocate due to work … but still we were all kind of in the same boat and all from Washington!

Needless to say the three in the picture above are my now roomies. The one in the middle is pretty cool even though she once in awhile will either shit or piss in the middle of the living room.

2) I started a new Twitter account - www.twitter.com/apaperthinwall. Take a look-see; it chronicles some amazing comments made by my landlord. My bedroom shares a paper thin wall with his real estate office and his voice has become an audio narcotic I must deal to the world.

3) Not very exciting, just fresh in my mind - Saturday morning, after arriving home from the bars, my NY friend Ken, his brother and I decided it would be an awesome idea to try and snag tickets for SNL. Apparently they were distributed earlier this summer but standby passes are offered the morning of, just in case someone no shows. So at 3:00 AM the three of us headed down to NBC studios to find more than 100 people camped out before us, all posted with the same intentions. Like the hopeful suckers we are we waited until a little after 7:00 AM for a ticket. After our long wait we were handed a light blue note card explaining we weren't guaranteed a seat, but to come back that evening for a chance to watch the show live.

Well, making a long story short, we didn’t get in! Blah! All of our efforts wasted. To be honest though, we weren't too disappointed after watching the show ... 'cause it sucked pretty hard that night. It was hosted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt with musical guest Dave Mathews Band … not impressed.

We are going to try again two weeks from today however. Our plan is to arrive super early, like 10:00 PM the Friday before with tents, sleeping bags, alcohol, and board games. Cross your fingers and say a little prayer because Rihanna and Blake Lively are slated for that episode!

Greetings from New York

It’s been exactly one week since moving to New York and I’m excited to report I really like it. I’m adjusting to the umpteen numbers of people living in the city and of course public transportation, but other than that, things are great.

I fortunately found out a friend from Pullman, Quinn is working for the William J. Clinton Foundation in Harlem for the next three months, so I now have a buddy to acclimate to NYC alongside of. Granted we don’t hang out on an everyday basis, but we have created a weekly ritual already entitled “Scenic Sundays” where we do something touristy together. Today we hit up the Central Park Zoo which, side note, is seriously a five minute walk from where I am staying. It wasn’t that amazing of an establishment in terms of exhibits, but it was awesome to see the animals with the cityscape close behind them.

We’ve also stumbled across the coolest hangout ever: SPiN NYC. OK, so we didn’t exactly stumble across it seeing my friend, Manoi is the Chef De Cuisine (head of the kitchen) there, but regardless I am so happy a place like this exists. Basically it’s a ping-pong (or table tennis if you will) club with weekly tournaments highlighting the best competitors in North America. The players congregate for a head-to-head competition which is somehow hilarious yet breathtaking all at the same time. I haven’t tried my hand at a game quite yet, but do know it’s a great environment to grab some grub or throw back a couple of brew-ha-has.

Bay to Blackout

OK, it took forever and a day, but I finally put together a Bay to Breaker slideshow! YAY! Check it out! It’s so funny … also very long, but if you’ve got 10 minutes you should take a look-see.

Also, I was looking at the ING website - http://www.baytobreakers.com/ and it looks like Bay to Breakers is scheduled to be held on May 16th next year. I can't wait! It is seriously so much freakin' fun!

Who's That Lady?

After watching her VMA performance I was super curious to see what Lady Gaga was all about before she made it big. I searched the web for a clip, but obviously didn't look hard enough! Today on E! they featured the video below in their "news segment". It was posted more than two months ago to YouTube and is obviously a few years old ... but still pretty interesting nonetheless.

Empire State Of Mind

In just four short days I will no longer be living in Washington State. Can you believe it? I’m kind of freaking out!

My plans are to move to NYC this Monday, September 21st! Please know this decision wasn’t made because I’m not happy in Seattle. I love Seattle! And while I like New York (just as a friend), I know the evergreen state will always be my home. So … why am I moving to the city you might ask? Well, the answer is simple: to further my career. It’s always been my dream to work for a youth media outlet. Whether it be (or something like) MTV, Channel One News, Much Music, or Fuse; I know it’s my destiny to work in this industry. And while Washington has so much to offer, the opportunity I want … the opportunity I need is not available here.

I am hoping everything will work out, and if not (I mean really? I know it will) at least I can say I tried and of course gave it my all. So, to all of my friends and family – I’ll miss you. To everyone in New York – please be nice to me!

Oh and you better believe this will be my new theme song.
